Shane Bennett started PrivacyOn in August 2022 after searching his own name and finding dozens of websites selling his personal information. He runs the company day to day, including the removal service that finds customers' listings on data broker and people-search sites and files deletion requests on their behalf as an authorized agent under laws like the CCPA. He publishes the PrivacyOn Data Broker Response Report, which tracks how data brokers actually respond to those requests, and the Data Broker Statistics page built from PrivacyOn's own scan engine.
