How to Opt Out of DOBSearch

DOBSearch is a people search engine that aggregates public records to create detailed profiles containing your name, date of birth, addresses, phone numbers, and more. If you've searched for yourself online and found your information on DOBSearch, here's exactly how to remove it.

What Information Does DOBSearch Expose?

DOBSearch collects and displays a wide range of personal data pulled from public records and other sources:

  • Full name and aliases
  • Date of birth
  • Current and past addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Email addresses
  • Relatives and associates
  • Property records
  • Court and criminal records

This information is available to anyone who searches for you, making it a significant privacy concern.

How to Remove Your Information From DOBSearch

Follow these steps carefully to submit your opt-out request:

  1. Search for your listing:

Go to the DOBSearch people finder page at dobsearch.com/people-finder/search-name.php. Enter your name, complete the CAPTCHA, and click "Search."

  2. Select your listing:

In the search results, check the box next to any listing that matches your information. You may have multiple listings if you've lived at different addresses. Click "Manage My Listings" at the bottom of the page.

  3. Agree to removal:

Type "I Agree" in the text field to confirm that you want your listing removed from the site.

  4. Confirm your selection:

Check the box next to your listing again and click "Continue."

  5. Skip the date of birth prompt:

The site will ask for your name and date of birth. You do not need to provide your date of birth — simply click "Continue" without entering it.

  6. Verify your identity:

Enter an email address and phone number. Choose whether to receive a confirmation code by text message or voice call. Enter the code when you receive it and click "Continue."

Processing Time

DOBSearch removal requests typically take about one week to process. After that, your listing should no longer appear in search results on the site.

Don't Share Unnecessary Information

During the opt-out process, avoid providing your date of birth or any additional personal details beyond what is strictly required. The less information you share, the better.

Important Things to Know

DOBSearch Is Connected to BeenVerified

DOBSearch is part of the BeenVerified network. If you've already opted out of BeenVerified, your information may be automatically removed from DOBSearch as well. However, it's worth checking both sites to make sure your data has been fully removed.

Full Name Directory Connection

Full Name Directory is operated by DOBSearch. Removing your data from DOBSearch should also remove it from Full Name Directory, giving you two removals for one opt-out request.

Your Data May Reappear

Like most data broker sites, DOBSearch regularly refreshes its database from public records and other sources. This means your information could reappear weeks or months after you've opted out. It's a good idea to check back at least once every three months and resubmit your opt-out request if necessary.

California Residents: The DELETE Act

If you live in California, you have an additional option. The California DELETE Act created the Data Broker Registry Opt-Out Platform (DROP) at privacy.ca.gov, which allows residents to send a single deletion request to hundreds of registered data brokers. Starting in August 2026, data brokers will be required to delete your data within 90 days of receiving a request through this platform.

Automate Your Data Removal

DOBSearch is just one of over 100 data broker sites that may have your personal information. Manually opting out of each one is time-consuming, and you'll need to repeat the process regularly as your data reappears.

PrivacyOn automates this entire process. We continuously monitor 100+ data broker sites, submit opt-out requests on your behalf, and re-submit them whenever your information resurfaces. Instead of spending hours navigating opt-out forms, you can let PrivacyOn handle it while you focus on what matters.
