Redfin is one of the largest real estate platforms in the United States, displaying detailed property information for millions of homes including owner names, home values, sale prices, tax assessments, and interior photos from past listings. If you are a homeowner concerned about your privacy, this guide walks you through exactly how to remove your information from Redfin.
What Information Does Redfin Show About You?
Redfin aggregates data from multiple public sources to build comprehensive property profiles. Your listing page may include:
- Your full name as the property owner
- Your home address and neighborhood details
- Property purchase price and complete sale history
- Property tax assessment amounts and history
- Home features including square footage, lot size, bedrooms, and bathrooms
- Redfin Estimate of your home's current market value
- Interior and exterior photos from past real estate listings
- School district information and walk scores
Even if you never created a Redfin account, your property data is likely on the platform because Redfin pulls from county assessor records, MLS listing databases, and other public data sources.
How to Unclaim Your Home on Redfin
If you previously claimed your home on Redfin's Owner Dashboard, you can unclaim it to remove the association between your identity and the property:
- Go to the full Redfin website: Visit redfin.com in a desktop browser. This process cannot be completed from the Redfin mobile app
- Sign in to your account: Log in with the account you used to claim the home
- Navigate to My Homes: Click your profile name in the top-right corner and select My Homes from the dropdown
- Select the property: Click on the home you want to remove
- Open More Tools: Click More Tools to expand the dropdown menu
- Click Unclaim This Home: Select the Unclaim This Home option
- Confirm: Click Yes in the confirmation pop-up
Alternatively, you can click the three dots in the top-right corner of the Owner Dashboard page and select Remove This Home.
Important Limitation
Unclaiming your home removes it from your personal Owner Dashboard and stops Redfin Home Reports for that address. However, the public property page with listing data, tax records, and sale history will remain on Redfin because this information comes from public records that Redfin aggregates from county and MLS databases.
How to Remove Photos From Redfin
Interior photos are one of the biggest privacy concerns on real estate sites. Past listing photos can reveal your home's layout, security system placement, valuables, and personal belongings. To remove them:
- For sold homes: Go to your property page on Redfin, click the More button, and look for the Request Photo Removal option. If it is not available, contact Redfin support directly
- Contact Redfin support: Submit a request through the Redfin Help Center at support.redfin.com. Include the property address and a clear request to remove interior photos
- Contact the listing agent: The real estate agent who originally listed the property controls the MLS listing photos. Ask them to remove the photos from the MLS, which will cascade to Redfin and other sites
Skip the manual opt-outs
One opt-out won't stop them — brokers relist your data. PrivacyOn removes your info from 100+ sites and keeps it removed.

Submit a Privacy Request
Under California's CCPA and other state privacy laws, you have the right to request that Redfin delete your personal data and opt out of the sale of your information. To submit a formal privacy request:
- Visit Redfin's Privacy Policy page and look for the Do Not Sell My Personal Information link
- Submit a data deletion request specifying the information you want removed
- Reference your state's privacy law if applicable — CCPA for California, VCDPA for Virginia, CPA for Colorado, or the applicable law in your state
Your Address Is on More Than Just Redfin
Redfin is just one of dozens of sites that display your home address and property information. People-search sites like Spokeo, BeenVerified, Whitepages, and TruePeopleSearch also show your address alongside your phone number, email, and family members. PrivacyOn removes your personal information from over 100 data brokers and continuously monitors for re-listings, providing comprehensive address protection that goes far beyond any single real estate site. Plans start at $8.33 per month with family coverage for up to 5 people.
Protect Your Address at the Source
Since Redfin pulls property data from public county records, complete removal from the platform is difficult. Here are additional steps to protect your address privacy:
- Consider an LLC or trust: Holding property through a legal entity can keep your name off public property records
- Use a P.O. box: Use a P.O. box or commercial mail receiving agency for any public filings
- Remove from other sites: Also remove your information from Zillow, Trulia, Realtor.com, PropertyShark, Rehold, and BlockShopper
- Opt out of data brokers: Data brokers aggregate property records into searchable profiles. Removing yourself from these sites prevents your address from being easily found through a name search
