What the extension does on your device

The PrivacyOn extension blocks known advertising and tracking requests using Chrome's built-in declarativeNetRequest system. The blocklist ships inside the extension and the blocking decisions are made entirely by your browser. Your page visits, history, and blocked-tracker counts are processed and stored only on your device — they are never transmitted to PrivacyOn or anyone else.

The permissions we request, and why

declarativeNetRequest / Feedback — block tracker requests and count what was blocked so the panel can show you.
tabs — read the address of your current tab locally so the side panel can show per-site stats and warn you on data-broker sites. The address is never sent anywhere.
storage — keep your running blocked-tracker total and banner preferences on your device.
sidePanel — show the PrivacyOn panel in Chrome's sidebar.
privacyon.com access — the only network requests the extension itself makes are to your own PrivacyOn account (see below), and only if you sign in.

If you sign in (optional)

Signing in connects the extension to your PrivacyOn account using the same secure session as privacyon.com. When signed in, the extension requests from our servers: your first name, your account email's data-breach exposure (via the Have I Been Pwned service), and your removal-progress stats. This data flows from us to you — the extension does not send your browsing activity to us in either direction. Sign out of privacyon.com at any time to disconnect.

Data-broker site warnings

On a fixed list of known people-search sites (like whitepages.com or spokeo.com), the extension shows a local warning banner with links to our opt-out guides. The detection happens on your device against the built-in list; no record of your visit is created or transmitted.

What we never do

Collect, transmit, or sell your browsing history — to anyone, ever.
Inject ads, affiliate links, or modify page content beyond blocking trackers.
Use analytics or telemetry inside the extension.
Read page contents on any site.
