Most people know about Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, but there is a fourth major credit bureau that quietly collects and sells consumer data: Innovis. While less well-known than the big three, Innovis maintains detailed financial profiles on millions of Americans and sells that data to lenders, insurers, and marketers. If you have taken steps to protect your privacy at the other bureaus, leaving Innovis unchecked is a significant gap in your coverage.
What Is Innovis?
Innovis Data Solutions is a consumer reporting agency headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. It collects many of the same types of data as the big three bureaus, including credit account information, payment histories, public records, and personal identifiers like your name, address, Social Security number, and date of birth.
Lenders, insurance companies, and other businesses use Innovis data to make decisions about credit applications, insurance policies, and pre-screened marketing offers. Because Innovis operates under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you have the same rights regarding your Innovis file as you do with the other bureaus, including the right to a free annual report and the right to place a security freeze.
Step 1: Opt Out of Pre-Screened Offers
Pre-screened credit and insurance offers are generated when companies purchase lists of consumers who meet certain criteria from credit bureaus. Innovis participates in the same opt-out system as the other three bureaus.
- Visit OptOutPrescreen.com: This is the official centralized opt-out site operated by the major credit bureaus, including Innovis. One submission covers all four bureaus.
- Choose your opt-out period:
- 5-year opt-out: Complete the online form. You will need to provide your name, address, Social Security number, and date of birth.
- Permanent opt-out: Start the process online, then print the Permanent Opt-Out Election form, sign it, and mail it in. Only the mailed form makes the opt-out permanent.
- Or call by phone: Dial 1-888-567-8688 to opt out over the phone. This also covers all four bureaus simultaneously.
One Form Covers All Four Bureaus
OptOutPrescreen.com is operated jointly by Equifax, Experian, TransUnion, and Innovis. A single submission removes you from pre-screened offer lists at all four credit bureaus at once. The online opt-out lasts 5 years. For permanent removal, you must print and mail the form.
Step 2: Place a Security Freeze at Innovis
A security freeze is the most powerful tool you have to prevent unauthorized access to your Innovis credit file. When a freeze is in place, no new creditor can pull your report, which effectively blocks anyone from opening new credit accounts in your name using Innovis data.
You can place an Innovis freeze through any of these methods:
- Online: Visit innovis.com and navigate to the security freeze section. You will need to create an account and verify your identity.
- By phone: Call 1-800-540-2505 to request a security freeze over the phone.
- By mail: Send a written request to Innovis Consumer Assistance, PO Box 530088, Atlanta, GA 30353-0088. Include your full name, addresses for the past two years, Social Security number, date of birth, and a copy of a government-issued ID.
The freeze is completely free under federal law. Innovis will provide you with a PIN that you can use to temporarily lift or permanently remove the freeze when needed.
Do Not Forget Innovis When Freezing Your Credit
Many guides only tell you to freeze your credit at Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. If you skip Innovis, a lender or fraudster who checks the fourth bureau will still be able to pull a report. Always freeze at all four bureaus to close this gap completely.
Skip the manual opt-outs
One opt-out won't stop them — brokers relist your data. PrivacyOn removes your info from 100+ sites and keeps it removed.

Under the FCRA, you are entitled to one free credit report from Innovis every 12 months. Reviewing your report lets you see exactly what data Innovis has on file and check for any inaccuracies or signs of fraud.
- Online: Visit innovis.com/personal/creditReport and follow the instructions to request your report.
- By phone: Call 1-800-540-2505 to request a copy by mail.
- By mail: Send a written request to the Innovis Consumer Assistance address listed above, including your identification details.
Review every section of your report carefully. Look for accounts you do not recognize, addresses you have never lived at, and inquiries from companies you did not apply to.
Step 4: Dispute Any Inaccurate Information
If you find errors on your Innovis report, you have the right to dispute them. Innovis is required by law to investigate your dispute within 30 days and correct or remove information that cannot be verified.
- Online: Use the dispute portal at innovis.com
- By mail: Write to Innovis Consumer Assistance at the address above, clearly identifying each item you are disputing and explaining why it is inaccurate. Include copies of any supporting documentation.
Step 5: Opt Out by Mail
For additional data sharing opt-outs beyond pre-screened offers, you can send a written opt-out request directly to Innovis:
- Mail to: Innovis Consumer Assistance, PO Box 530088, Atlanta, GA 30353-0088
- Include your full name, current and previous addresses, date of birth, and Social Security number
- Clearly state that you want to opt out of all data sharing for marketing purposes
What These Steps Do and Do Not Cover
- You cannot delete your Innovis file entirely. As with the other credit bureaus, your credit file exists as long as there is reported data. Opt-outs limit how that data is shared for marketing and solicitation purposes.
- A security freeze does not affect existing creditors. Companies with which you already have a relationship can still access your report.
- Pre-screened opt-outs stop solicitations only. Opting out of pre-screened offers does not prevent companies from pulling your credit when you apply for a product.
- Some opt-outs require renewal. The 5-year electronic opt-out through OptOutPrescreen.com must be renewed. Set a calendar reminder.
Taking control of your data at Innovis is just one piece of the privacy puzzle. Between credit bureaus, data brokers, and people-search sites, your personal information is spread across hundreds of databases. PrivacyOn helps you manage this broader landscape by handling opt-outs across 100+ data brokers and people-search sites, so you can reduce your digital footprint beyond what the credit bureaus alone cover.
